JACKIE W. LINDSEY, 90, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at his residence. He was born to the late Clarence “Scrubby” and Loretta (nee Jett) Lindsey on December 28, 1934 in Gasconade, Missouri. Jack married Jean Mayfield on June 15, 1956, at First United Methodist Church in Chester, Illinois; she preceded him in death on February 18, 2015. Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps during the Korean War in 1953. He was stationed in Reno, Nevada, in the Cold Weather Battalion. While there, he played shortstop on the Marine Corps baseball team. After he served our country, he attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. After school, he joined his father at Lindsey Oil Company in Chester, Illinois, and later opened Lindsey Super Oil. Jack was instrumental in bringing the 911 system to Randolph County and became the 911 administrator for many years. Jack then started Lindsey Management and became a consultant until his retirement. Jack was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #72, 32nd degree Mason, and Eagles Club Aerie #3252, all in Chester. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #487 and Elks Lodge #1629 in Chester. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Chester Country Club. He also spent time woodworking.
