JANET CAROLINE WHELAN, 73, of Evansville, Illinois, was called home, to our Lord and Savior at 3:30 a m, Sunday, December 30, 2018 at her residence. She was a loving wife, supportive mother, nurturing mother in law, proud grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
She was born to the late Elmer and Ethel (nee Roscow) Burmester on September 20, 1945 in Red Bud, Illinois.
Janet married Donald E. Whelan, Sr. on September 25, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Red Bud (Prairie), Illinois; he survives.
She was a pillar in the community as she served as a founder and fundraising coordinator at COSLHS. Janet was employed as a librarian and teacher’s aide at both Evansville Attendance Center and Sparta Lincoln Middle School. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evansville; where she served as Sunday School Director, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and member of the choir for many years.
