JERALD L EE WALTER , 72 , of Ellis Grove, Illinois, passed away at 11:35 pm, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, O’Fallon, Illinois

He was born to the late William and Ruth (nee Schulein) Walter on March 9, 1948 in Red Bud, Illinois.

He married Patricia Landmann on February 4, 1967 in St. Pius V Catholic Church in Walsh, Illinois; she survives.

He spent the greater portion of his career at Menard Correctional Center in Chester, Illinois and retired as a Lieutenant after 30 years.

He was a member of St. Pius V Catholic Church, Walsh, Illinois, Knight of Columbus #1952 in Evansville, Illinois, 50 year member of the American Legion Post #487 in Chester, V.F.W. Post #3553 in Chester, Eagles Club Aerie #3252 in Chester and the Fort de Chartes Sportsman Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughters.

He was Vietnam Navy Veteran.
