JONATHAN RAY BERNER, 70, of Chester, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at his residence.


He was born to the late Edward James and Shirley Eline (nee Harris) Berner on December 24, 1953 in Belleville, Illinois.


Jonathan married Susan Berner on April 20, 1973 in Cutler, Illinois; she survives.


He had worked as a carpenter for The Monsanto Company for 16 years.


Jonathan was of Baptist Faith.


He was a combat veteran in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Jonathan was well known for his colorful story telling, words of wisdom and being an all around lovable character. He enjoyed playing pool and spending time with his family. Although he and his pain are gone, he will not be forgotten.
