JOSEPH “JOE” D. GORMAN, 81, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 4:10 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Red Bud Regional Hospital, Red Bud, Illinois.
He was born to the late Frank and Mary (nee Walsh) Gorman on December 23, 1944, in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.
On October 14, 1967, Joe married the love of his life, Shirley A. Pelate, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois. Together, they built a life rooted in love and commitment, and she survives him.
A proud veteran, Joe served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated over 31 years of hard work to the Chrysler Plant in Fenton, Missouri, and was a dedicated member of the United Auto Workers Local #110. During his retirement, he worked for the Adorers of the Blood of Christ as a driver for 11 years.
Joe belonged to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud, Illinois, as well as the American Legion Post #622 in Prairie du Rocher, the V.F.W. Post #6632 in Red Bud, and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus in Red Bud, Illinois. In his free time, Joe loved nothing more than playing cards with family and friends and watching his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
