Joyce A Wirth

JOYCE A. WIRTH , 83, of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 4:45 am, Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Mercy Hospice South – de Greeff Hospice House, St. Louis, Missouri. She was a much loved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and best of all – child of God.

She was born to the late Charles and Velma (nee Mudd) Shea on August 6, 1937 in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.

Joyce married Roy Wirth on November 28, 1964 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois, and they were happily married for 56 years.

Joyce and Roy made their home in Prairie du Rocher. They worked side by side in their Western Auto Store and later took to the road with Wirth’s Custom Automotive enjoying their travels to swap meets and making many dear friends along the way. Joyce also worked in the medical records department at St. Clement Hospital for many years and retired in 1999. She loved traveling, shopping, jigsaw puzzles, babies, chocolate covered cherries, game shows, going to her grandchildren’s play and concerts, her grandpuppies and throwing a really good party.

Joyce was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairie du Rocher, Illinois and she was devoted to caring for her family. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Preceded in death by: Parents, 2 Sisters – Alice (Harold) Modglin and Dorothy (Bill) Dearworth, In-laws – Victor and Lena Wirth, and 3 Nephews – Dana Koudela, Steve Dearworth and Greg Modglin.

Due to COVID concerns, we will be having only a Graveside Service at 11:00 am, Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.
