Larry Donald Smith

LARRY DONALD SMITH, 85, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 9:30 pm, Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Coulterville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Coutlerville, Illinois.

He was born to the late C.J. “Cap” and Frances Louise (nee Syloski) Smith on December 30, 1937 in Randolph County, Illinois.

Larry married Monica Ann Hecktor in 1984; she preceded him in death in February of 2020.

He had worked as a carpenter and woodworker and had owned The Carpenter Shop in Chester, Illinois for 25 years.

Larry was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois. He enjoyed woodworking.

He was a United States Airforce Veteran.

It was Larry’s wish to be cremated. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville, Illinois with Don Berry officiating.

In honor of Larry, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation and memorials are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
