Leroy E Wachtel

LEROY E. WACHTEL, 87, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away at 5:10 pm, Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Randolph County Care Center, Sparta, Illinois.

He was born to the late Peter E. and Rosemond “Rose” (nee Ganley) Wachtel on October 11, 1937, in Hecker, Illinois.

Leroy married Jacqueline “Jackie” L. Braun on July 18, 1959, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church in Hecker, Illinois; she survives.

Leroy had worked as a welder and retired from Nooter in St. Louis, Missouri.

Leroy enjoyed throwing horseshoes and also loved riding his motorcycle. After retiring, he kept himself busy working on second-hand bicycles. He made a lot of children happy with those bikes that he put a lot of time and love into restoring.

Preceded in death by: Parents and his 4 Sisters – Edna (Elmer) Haudrich, Mildred (Tom) Eagles, Irma (Richard) Newton, and Alsace (George) Muskopf

It was Leroy’s wish to be cremated, and a private inurnment will take place at St. Marcus Cemetery in Red Bud, Illinois.
