Mark Stephen McLean

August 21, 1950 — November 6, 2025

MARK STEPHEN McLEAN, 75, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025 at his home in Rockwood Illinois doing what he loved most- spending time outdoors on his farm during deer season.

He was born to Leo and Jeanne (nee Parker) McLean on August 21, 1950 in Red Bud, Illinois. Mark married Margaret “Maggie” Rieckenberg on April 19, 2008 at Ebenezer Church in Rockwood, Illinois.

Mark proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps Veteran. His love for the Corps was undeniable and a cornerstone of who he was.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he joined his father’s construction company, Chester Industrial Contractors and together they built many establishments. He was most proud of the work with the Randolph County Court House in Chester, Illinois. Mark also served with the Core of Engineers in multiple locations for many years.

Mark was a member of the Moose Lodge #1764, V.F.W. Post #3553 and the Knight of Columbus #3790 in Chester. He also enjoyed being a member of the Chester Country Club. Mark was a man of vibrant personality and a kind, caring heart. He never met a stranger and was deeply loved by all who knew him. His contagious smile and entertaining sense of humor lit up every room he entered. An avid outdoors man, Mark found pure joy on his beloved farm, Buffalo Acres, where he spent his days immersed in the crafts he loved most—hunting and fishing. Nature was his sanctuary, and he embraced it fully. Mark also had a deep passion for the stars. A dedicated stargazer, he loved sharing his knowledge of astronomy with others, inspiring wonder and curiosity of the stars above. His life was a beautiful blend of adventure, laughter, and generosity—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of many.

He will remain in the hearts of his loving family: Wife – Margaret “Maggie”, Mother – Jeanne (McLean) Eastridge, 2 Daughters – Amy McLean and Ashly (Cory) Siegfried and Granddaughter - Emilia Siegfried. Mark’s life was blessed by the love of the Parker Family and many cousins and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his Father – Leo, Step Father – Buck Eastridge and 2 Brothers – Michael and Gregory McLean.

Hunters are welcome to wear their camo best- Mark would have loved that!
