MARY LOU SCHOEPPEL, 101, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 pm, Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Coulterville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Coulterville, Illinois.

She was born to the late Joseph and Laura (nee Wagner) Wolter on September 23, 1917 in Johnston City, Illinois.

Mary Lou married Eugene Schoeppel on November 11, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester; he preceded her in death on March 19, 2002.

Mary Lou worked in several clothing stores in Chester. She loved working among people, especially the older ladies to which she was partial. She was later a homemaker.

She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, she also volunteered at St. Mary’s serving the children’s meals in the cafeteria. Mary Lou volunteered her time to work in the gift shop at Memorial Hospital in Chester as well as many other organizations. She loved flowers and had many plants in her family room windows.
