She was born to the late Cyril and Lenora (nee Armstrong) Hecktor on February 4, 1942 in Chester, Illinois.

She married Larry D. Smith on July 16, 1984 in Chester, Illinois; he survives.

Monica was a housewife.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chester, Illinois.
