Paul Andrew Estel

PAUL ANDREW ESTEL, 81, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 2:20 pm, Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born to the late Clarence H. “Sheik” and Kathlyn P. (nee Rosenberger) Estel on April 5, 1943 in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Paul married Donna Gross on March 15, 1980 in Chester, Illinois; she survives.

He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Chester. Paul retired from Chester Mental Health Center as a Security Therapy Aide III. He was also a barber all his life and enjoyed meeting and talking to people. Paul enjoyed fishing and hunting and fished many successful fishing tournaments. He also served as a head coach for the Chester High School Bass Fishing Program for several years. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Paul was a United States Army Veteran.

3 Brothers-in-law: Dennis (Paulette) Gross, Larry (Cheryl) Gross and Bill (Joan) Gross

Preceded in Death by:  Parents, 1 Sister – Donna Joy Signaigo and 1 Brother – Jack H. Estel

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday March 8, 2025 at First Baptist Church in Chester with Dr. Mike Fogerson officiating.

Memorials may be made in Paul’s honor to Chester First Baptist Church and are being accepted at Pechacek Funeral Home in Chester.
