Pryce L. Keagle

PRYCE L. KEAGLE, 92, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Lakewood Nursing Home in Plainfield, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dorothy L. Keagle (nee Natho), with whom he shared a life full of joy and cherished moments. Pryce is also survived by his son Retired Lt. Col John (Lerah) Keagle and his daughter Kimberly (Gerrit) Keagle Saylor. Pryce’s legacy lives on through his five cherished grandchildren Jill, Molly, Page, Luke, and Peter.

Pryce was born on June 7, 1931, in Moline, Illinois, to Price L. and Irene Keagle (nee Huth). He was a dedicated brother to his sister, Suezan Tiedeman, who preceded him in death.

Pryce's life was marked by significant achievements and a profound commitment to his community and profession. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School, Class of 1948 and went on to further his education at Augustana College and the University of Illinois, where he earned his Masters degree in Civil Engineering. Pryce proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War, demonstrating his dedication to his country.

In his professional life, Pryce made notable contributions, retiring from Powers Thompson Construction Company and Larson Architects in Joliet. However, his most enduring impact was made through his 30-year tenure as an educator at Joliet Junior College, where he taught Engineering. His passion for teaching inspired countless students, leaving a lasting legacy in the field of engineering.

Pryce was an active member and Elder of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, where he proudly served as a Past-President of the Joliet Chapter. Additionally, he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi National Fraternity and a lifetime member of the American Legion, demonstrating his commitment to fraternity and service to his fellow veterans.

Beyond his professional and community involvement, Pryce was a devoted family man. He took immense joy in spending time with his grandchildren, playing with them and creating cherished memories. Pryce's love for the natural world shone through his passion for planting Ginko trees, leaving behind a living testament to his appreciation of nature. As an accomplished engineer, Pryce designed and built his family home, a testament to his skill and dedication.

Pryce L. Keagle's life was one of purpose, dedication, and love. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his impact on his community and profession will be remembered for generations to come.
