RICHARD CHARLES MILLER, 71, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 26, 2025, in Orlando, Florida. He was born on September 6, 1953, in Belleville, Illinois.
Richard was a kind and loving man who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He graduated from Belleville Township High School and went on to earn a master’s degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He devoted his professional life to education, teaching in schools across Illinois and Florida. His warmth and generosity touched many lives throughout his years as an educator. He retired from teaching with Orange County Public Schools in 2019.
On June 30, 1988, Richard married Carol Miller. Together, they shared many meaningful years. He was a devoted father who lovingly raised Debbie Curran, Cyndi Curran, David Curran, and John (Connie) Curran. His family legacy continues through his grandchildren—Amy Deffenbaugh, Jordan Curran, and Eryn Jackson—and two great-grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Milton Miller. He is also remembered by his three loving siblings, Glenn Miller, Linda Emery, and Jim Miller, along with their families.
A life dedicated to education and family, Richard will be remembered for the impact he made on those around him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
A Memorial Mass for Richard & Carol will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 4, 2026, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Illinois, with Msgr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Red Bud, Illinois.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Pechacek Funeral Homes in Red Bud, Illinois.
Memorials can be made in their memory to Helping Strays of Monroe County.
