Bobby married Jaci Gieser Wilder on July 18, 2000 in Montego Bay, Jamaica; she survives.

During his lifetime, he worked for the IDOC as a Correctional Officer, a St Louis City Police Officer then later served as Chief of Police in Pinckneyville and Evansville. He ultimately began his nearly 40 year career with Illinois Power (Ameren Illinois) and rose through the ranks to Journeyman Lineman. He finished his career as a Lineman Handling Orders/troubleshooter working out of his home, retiring in 2005. While working for the power company, he was owner/operator of other businesses; most widely known for his archery business in Evansville, Archery Unlimited. He was a member of Grace Church Ministries in Chester, Illinois, Mississippi River Valley Gun Club, I.B.E.W #702 in West Frankfort, Illinois, Amateur Trapshooters Association and the N.R.A..

Bobby was widely known as an avid sportsman. His love for hunting took him many places including numerous trips throughout the US as well as Newfoundland and South Africa. His other hobbies included bow-fishing and trapshooting. He was an accomplished marksman, trap-shooter, archer, coach, mentor and friend to many. He excelled at everything he did.

He deeply loved and was extraordinarily proud of his family. His definition of family extended to many close friends of all ages.

He will be sorely missed by all whose lives were touched by this extraordinary man but he is at rest in the arms of His Loving Father, reunited with those he loved and missed so very much.
