ROGER L. PETROWSKE, 92, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 7:04 pm, Sunday, October 11, 2020 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.
He was born to the late Herman and Florence (nee Singer) Petrowske on February 16, 1928 in Chester, Illinois
Roger married Ruth Stumpe on April 22, 1950 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois; she survives.
He was a Navy Veteran and served his country from January 23, 1946 to November, 1947. He was stationed in Tsingtao, China. He retired January 1, 1991 from Menard Correctional Center where he had worked as a correctional officer for twenty years. Prior to his employment for the State of Illinois, he was employed as an auto body repairman and worked many years at Mel and Rocky’s in Chester.
Roger was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chester, Illinois. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #3790, V.F.W. Post #3553, American Legion Post #487 and AFSCME Retirees Sub Chapter 56. Roger loved his family, his cars, working in his yard, traveling and loved to talk. He was known by just about everyone in Chester as a kind and friendly man. In his 92 years, he touched the lives and hearts of many people. He enjoyed telling his childhood stories to his family and they were loved by all generations. Roger is greatly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be missed so very much.

A Private Funeral Mass will be held at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with Very Reverend Eugene H. Wojcik, V.F. officiating.
