RUTHIE JEAN MOORE, 88, of Red Bud, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 8:10 pm, Thursday, February 15, 2024 in Waterloo, Illinois. Born on October 17, 1935, Ruthie lived a life marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and those she loved.
Ruthie married Thomas J. Moore; he preceded her in death on August 18, 1982.
She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and a cherished friend, mentor, and a pillar of strength and true unconditional love to those who knew her. Ruthie’s remarkable legacy will continue to resonate forever, leaving an enduring impression on the world she touched.
Born in Henderson, Tennessee and raised in Kewanee, Missouri, Ruthie lived a full and profound life. She worked for a while as a restaurant owner of Ruthie and Virginia’s in Cahokia, Illinois, and also gave more than 20 years of dedicated service as manager of Pizza Hut in both Belleville and Red Bud, Illinois. She put her entire heart into everything she did, and her greatest passion was her family. She loved to cook, tell stories and jokes, and drive fast. She was compassionate, honest, funny, and authentic. In addition to loving and raising her own children, Ruthie’s door was always open to anyone who needed her, and she cared for numerous ‘stray’ kids who still, to this day, call her “Mom”. Upon retirement, she lived primarily in Red Bud, Illinois, and dedicated the rest of her life to her grandchildren, whom she loved boundlessly.
The indelible imprint of Ruthie Jean Moore's memory shall live eternally within the hearts of those fortunate enough to have the blessing and privilege of knowing her.
