SHELBA “ BOOTS” L. KEMPFER , 82 , of Modoc , Illinois, passed away at 2:24 pm, Monday, December 5, 2022 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, Illinois.

Sh e was born to the late Bernard and Lorena (nee Smith) Brown on January 25, 1940 in Modoc, Illinois.

Shelba married Gary W. Kempfer on October 15, 1966 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Modoc, Illinois; he preceded her in death on July 13, 2004.

Shelba worked as a bookkeeper at Rocher Lumber, North County Home Center and ACE Hardware.

Sh e was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, Modoc, Illinois and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prairie du Rocher, Illinois and Friends of St. Leo’s. She was a loving aunt. She enjoyed bowling, playing piano, gardening, canning and quilting. She loved her animals, especially her dog Kelly .
