Sonya Lyons

SONYA LYONS, 87, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away at 7:25 pm, Monday, March 27, 2023 at Trinity Woods, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

She was born to the late Alvin and Henrietta (nee Ruff) Suttles on March 30, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Sonya had taught English in high school in Sacramento, California for 12 years.

Members of her family had served in the ministry of the Lutheran Church for many generations. She and her companion, Robert Bense, had met as undergraduates at the University of Illinois nearly seventy years ago.
