Sr. Mary Ann Mueller

SR. MARY ANN MUELLER, ASC, 93, of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, passed away at 12:55 am, Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Ruma Center, Ruma, Illinois.

She was born to the late Joseph, Sr. and Mary (Jansen) Mueller on July 17, 1927 in Bartelso, Illinois.

She made first vows on July 1, 1944 and final vows on July 1, 1949. She had been professed 76 years.

She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sacred Heart College, now Newman University, in Wichita, Kansas in 1967. She received her Elementary Education Teaching Certificate from the State of Illinois.

A teacher for 20 years, Sister Mary Ann served at Immaculate Conception in Centreville, St. Mary in Taylorville, St. Matthew in Alton and Albers Elementary in Albers, all in Illinois. She worked briefly in dietary service at St. Clare in O’Fallon, Illinois., Guardian Angel in Oran, Missouri., and St. Clement (now Red Bud Regional) Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois.

Her nurturing personality suited her to be a Housemother at Catholic Children’s Home in Alton, Illinois. She also served as the Administrator of the Home, spending a total of 16 years at the institution. She held the position of Administrator of DeMattias Hall, a residence for students attending Saint Louis University. She served briefly as the Assistant Manager of Manresa House in Florissant, Missouri. and at Rosary House Resident Center in North Saint Louis. Her longest period of service in the St. Louis area was for Mother of Perpetual Help Residence where she was the receptionist/secretary for 16 years.

Sister Mary Ann began Living Mission in Later Life at the Ruma Center in 2016.

She is survived by a brother-in-law - Leo Beckmann and many nieces, nephews, and members of the ASC Community.

Preceded in death by her parents, 5 Brothers - Paul (Theresa) Mueller, Joseph (Mary) Mueller, Jr., Marcel (Loretta) Mueller, John (Mary) Mueller and Leonard Mueller; and 2 Sisters - Leona Beckmann, Rosemary (Fred) Kreke and Sister Agnes Mueller, ASC.

A Vigil for the deceased, with attendance limited to the Sisters at the Ruma Center, will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020. Burial will follow in the Ruma Center cemetery.

A Memorial Mass for Sister Mary Ann will be celebrated at a later date with Sisters, family and friends.
