Sr. Michaeline Ryan

December 19, 1931 — June 30, 2022

SR. MICHAELINE RYAN, ASC, 90 , of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, passed away at 4:08 pm, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Benedictine Living Community at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, Illinois. She had been professed for 6 2 years.

Sr. Michaeline ( baptized Theresa) was born to the late Martin and Rozalia (nee Hazzard) Ryan on December 19, 1931 in Collinsville, Illinois.

Sr. Michaeline earned her RN from St. John School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri in 1953. She received her nursing certificate from the Kansas State Board of Nursing in Topeka, Kansas in 1981.

For almost 40 years, Sr. Michaeline served in the health care ministry. She spent 15 years at St. Vincent (now Taylorville) Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, Illinois, including 8 years as the Supervisor of Obstetrics. She also served as St. Clement Hospital and at Clementine Residence, the former retirement home for senior sisters of the ASC community, both in Red Bud, Illinois. Her nursing skills also fitted her for service at St. Ann Home, a retirement facility for seniors, in Chester, Illinois, as well as at the Ruma Center where she was Health Care Coordinator for senior sisters for several years. She also served on the Administrative staff at the center for some of these years.

Her nursing background was also valuable at Casa San Jose, a home for pregnant women, in Grants, New Mexico, where she served as Director of the facility for several years. Following this assignment, she worked at Barclay House in St. Louis, Missouri, then at Community Care Inc. in East St. Louis to close her nursing ministry before retiring to the Ruma Center. There she began Living Mission in Later Life while still serving as chauffeur for sisters at the center for their medical appointments.

She is survived by her brothers - Martin and Anthony Ryan, her sisters - Mary Ryan, Patricia (Bob) Porter, and Eileen (Tom) Blackburn, nieces, nephews and her ASC community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers – Paul, Michael, Bernard and Patrick Ryan and her sister – Rosemary (Roger) Eichholz.
