Verna Caron

VERNA CARON, 104, of Chester, Illinois, passed away at 4:32 pm, Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Three Springs Senior Living and Rehabilitation in Chester, Illinois.

She was born to the late Louis and Martha (nee Wetzel) Stellhorn on November 29, 1921, in Red Bud, Illinois.

Verna married Harold Hettesheimer on August 7, 1940, in Chester, Illinois; he preceded her in death on March 12, 1973. She was later united in marriage to Vernon Caron on July 13, 1974, in Chester, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2005.

Throughout her life, Verna worked at the International Shoe Company in Evansville, Illinois. She was a dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church in Chester, Illinois, as well as the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Chester, where she proudly served as past president. Verna had a passion for travel and treasured the memories made along the way.

Preceded in death by: Parents, and 4 Siblings – Ruth (Monroe) Vallett, Vic (Wilma) Stellhorn, Florence (Leroy) Seiman, and Pearl (Elder) Mehring

A private graveside service will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Red Bud, Illinois.
