She was born to the late Andres Barriga and Hermelinda Villagonaz on December 15, 1947 in La Huacana Michoacan, Mexico.

She married Gabriel Villanueva in Urupan, Mexico; he survives.

She was of the Catholic faith. Ygnacia enjoyed watching soap operas.
